I wonder...

As the end of the third quarter approaches, your children are becoming more and more proficient in their reading comprehension. They have learned to determine importance from both fiction and non-fiction tests. As we continue to monitor comprehension, we are encouraging them to wonder and ask questions about what they have read. They are learning to seek out information to answer the questions they are asking.

Please take some time to have your child learn their home address and phone numbers. Not only will this fulfill one of their Social Studies AKS in Kindergarten, but it will also ensure their safety in case of an emergency.

Literacy Center Volunteers

I would like to meet with all those who said they would be available to volunteer in the classroom.  I will need volunteers that are available any given day from 10:00-11:00 AM to help us during our Reader's Workshop time.  If you are available during this time on any given day, please let me know.  We will have a brief meeting on Thursday, September 16th at 3:15pm in our classroom.  We will discuss what your role will be while in the classroom and I will answer any questions that you may have to that end.  I would like to start our volunteers on Monday, September 20th.

Curriculum Night

Curriculum Night will take place on Tuesday, August 24th.   The evening will begin with a PTA meeting at 6:30 pm.  Parents will then be dismissed to the classrooms by 7:00 pm.  This is a time for you to come in and learn more about your child's classroom and the kindergarten curriculum.  I look forward to seeing everyone there!
